I have been trying to come up with as many tiny accessories as possible to fill my dollhouse room.  Now that I’ve gotten really into the project, I see things everywhere that would make awesome miniatures.  This tiny wastebasket is one of those ideas that came to me without even trying, and it’s so easy to make!

To make it, you will need the plastic cap off of a spray bottle.  I robbed mine off an empty bottle of body spray, but they come on all kinds of different products.  Here’s what you do:

  1. Paint the cap.  I painted mine white first so it would be white on the inside, then gave it several coats of lavender craft  paint.
  2. If desired, place a small sticker on the painted cap.
  3. Seal the paint and sticker to the cap using Mod Podge.
  4. Cut paper into small pieces, then crumple the pieces.  Put a dab of glue on each piece of paper before you toss it in the wastebasket to make sure that the “trash” stays inside.

I have a real garbage can very similar to this one in my house and it has a ring of metal around the top edge.   I am considering using a silver Sharpie to mimic this ring on my miniature version.  Remember, the more details you add, the more realistic everything will look!
