Craft Tutorial: Textured Shelf Liner Wreath
Another week has come and gone, and that means it’s time for another Iron Craft project! This week’s theme was “winter.” It’s a theme I’m very familiar with at this point in the year; my neighborhood is buried under several feet of snow. Inspired by the snow and its many textures, I decided to make a winter wreath using non-slip shelf liner.
Supplies:
- Wreath form
- Non-slip shelf liner – 1 roll each blue and white
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun
- Wire-edged ribbon
Directions:
Start with a wreath form. I used a straw wreath form that I got from Dollar Tree, but a foam wreath form would work as well (and probably be easier to work with). I noticed after I bought this wreath form that it isn’t perfectly round, but that’s okay with me because I like the rustic look it creates.
Cut the shelf liner into strips along the long edge of the roll. Make the strips about 1 to 1/2 inches wide.
To make the strips easier to work with, roll them up into coils.
Hot glue one end of a strip of blue shelf liner to the wreath form. Wrap the strip around the wreath. At the end of each strip, use hot glue to secure down the end, then add another strip.
Continue wrapping the wreath with strips of blue shelf liner until the wreath form underneath is completely hidden and no longer shows through the holes in the shelf liner.
Hot glue the end of a strip of white shelf liner to the wreath. Wrap a single layer of white all the way around the wreath; the blue shelf liner should still be clearly visible underneath.
Finish the wreath by adding a festive bow with wire-edged ribbon. (I also used the ribbon to make a big loop for hanging my wreath.)
