It’s been about a week of radio silence here, and I know a lot of you are probably wondering what is up with that. (Or maybe you haven’t noticed, but I am going to let my ego do the talking here and assume you’ve missed me.) It’s been one heckuva week, with all kinds of factors contributing to my feeling a complete lack of creativity. A few of those days, even putting together an interesting sentence was asking too much. So, when I wasn’t busy running around in head-spinning circles, I hunkered down under a blanket with my kitty instead and waited for the funk to pass.
But that’s depressing stuff, and I don’t want to bring you down with my issues and bad news. So instead, today I am talking about something that is incredibly positive – positive enough to get my up out of my chair and moving again!
What broke my funk? Believe it or not, a large part of it can be attributed to house cleaning! I was a few days late getting started, but I have decided that my house is in dire need of the 40 Bags 40 Day Challenge posted by Ann Marie at White House Black Shutters. Over the course of 40 days I will remove at least one bag of stuff from my house every day. It doesn’t matter if it gets thrown away, donated or sold, as long as it gets the heck outta here!
Day One was a big day for getting stuff out of the house. It was the fist warm-ish, sunny day we’d had in quite some time, and since the weather had been so icky for so long, we didn’t take our recycling to the drop-off for weeks and weeks. (Oh how I wish we had curbside recycling service here!) I didn’t think to take a picture at the time, but we crammed 15 bags of plastic, metal, and paper into the back of our minivan, along with 5 bags of Goodwill donations (clothing and various housewares) that we gathered up a couple of weeks ago and never got around to taking to the store. That was one full minivan – and it made a HUGE difference in my house already! Today is Day Three, and I’ll be updating every few days to track my progress. Stay tuned for some massive decluttering action!
Also… I’ve been experimenting with some INSANE new recipes! The selections include the most amazing apple crisp in the world and some delicious curried butternut squash soup. Hungry yet?
